According to Nepal's latest censes of 2021, one in every five people is an adolescent. There are 58,76,269 adolescents' people of age 10-19 years. People of this age group are considered more vulnerable than other age groups because many starts risky behaviors such as smoking and alcohol consumption at an early age. The National Adolescent and Youth Survey 2011 revealed that 30.4% consume alcohol, 20.1% use addictive substances, and 4.6% use illicit drugs at this young age. Additionally, approximately 47% of the youth population has knowledge of symptoms of sexually transmitted infections, while only about 14% are aware of preventive measures.

With the technical support from Anusandhan, Sikshya Ra Bikash Nepal, the National Health Education, Information, and Communication Center (NHEICC) published the 18th edition of the Adolescent and Youth's Reproductive and Health-related Inquiry Book in 2066 B.S. Some editions have been updated. The National Adolescent Health and Development Policy 2075 has addressed the concerns and issues of adolescents, focusing on creating a more organized and adolescent-friendly approach. It emphasizes the necessity of addressing the risks and precautions that adolescents should take, especially during emergencies and pandemics. The information has been updated based on national and international data."
